Lens index effects the overall width & weight of the lens
Higher index lens are suitable for patients with increasing Sph and Cyl power. A Sph: -4.00, 1.50 index lens is almost x2 times thicker than a 1.74 index lens of the same Sph power. Due to the thicker lens, the overall weight of the lens is also heavier.
